WRITING

Dear Campus: Love You. Miss You Already.

From AI to athletics, machine learning to music, these graduating seniors—these almost-alums—embody the glorious sprawl of a Berkeley experience. They’re headed into a world that’s equal parts hot mess and possibility, and achingly ready for the energy, expertise, and empathy they bring.

What It’s Like to Parent With Your Friends

NPR’s Rhaina Cohen has taken a close look at friend-powered parenting, joining shared households to see how neighbor-and-friend alliances can break the isolation of modern parenthood. We’ll talk about the challenges of communal living and what parents gain—emotionally, practically, even financially—when they raise their kids with their friends. Cohen’s recent piece for the Atlantic is “A Grand Experiment in Parenthood and Friendship.” Would you raise your kids with your best pals?

THE LAIR NEWS

A community newspaper for the staff and campers of the Lair of the Golden Bear. Project-managed top to bottom by me (with brilliant contributions from the community), it features original reporting, satirical features, investigative deep-dives, poolside reading lists, horoscopes, crosswords, cartoons, Lair lore, and more. Think summer camp meets The New Yorker — if The New Yorker had more sunscreen and glitter. I launched it from scratch, drove the first issue up the mountain myself, and set up staffers to hand-deliver copies to every tent each Sunday morning.
